Digital Graduation Ceremony - Queen Margaret University

With our own 2020 graduation ceremony getting canceled, we wanted to help the university create something special to celebrate the pandemic graduates of 2020 and 2021.

This multi-stage project took the team around five months from start to finish, making it one of our longest projects to date. With the incredible help and support from the university staff marketing team and development committee, we have created a 30-minute video containing parts that can be shared separately. These videos include; an introduction video, the principles speech, a piece to camera featuring Pure Leith, three extended Alumni stories, a message from the Deans of school, a message from the general staff, Alumni congratulations, and the new Student President’s speech. Overall, we are incredibly proud to have been trusted to make this video for the university and wish all who are celebrating their graduation on the 13th and 14th of July the warmest congratulations.

With great secrecy, we started this project at the end of February and have worked tirelessly to keep production discrete and covid safe. With the introduction of the second lockdown, midway through pre-production, we had to plan to ensure working and shooting practices were safe. Most of our ‘behind-the-scenes’ photos containing masked personnel and 2-meter distances which is not as fun looking as our normal shoots. Though, there was some fancy dress!

After all of this, we have created a digital graduation ceremony we are proud of and happy to virtually attend. Please enjoy the final video.

After having made the QMU Digital Graduation Ceremony a short promo film was requested to promote the event and film itself. With a quick turnaround time and using some little clips from the main movie, we whipped together this little piece to camera with Sir Paul Grice.

You can check out the video and separate videos over on the university’s social pages at Instagram @qmuni, Twitter @QMUniversity, Facebook @QueenMargaretUniversity and youtube page QMUniversity, where you can see some of the other videos we have made for the university.
